This guy designed this in 2008 when he was just 20 during his degree at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, U.S.A.
He took on the task of redesigning the monopoly packaging. His influence being the rubbish designs of board games on the shelves - and I for one would have to agree with his view. Even monopoly - the classiest of board games - should have a good design, shouldn't it?!
What I know for fact is that the package was made using chocolate brown mat board which was skinned in cream arches cover. I think I would be right in saying that he used just two colours in the printing process of the packaging meaning that if it were to go to commercial print, it is likely that he would have used two Pantone spot colours in a lithographic or flexographic printing process. Possibly flexographic due to the printing on the cream covering of the box. However, the paper belly band would almost certainly be lithographic. The colour consideration works well and would definitely save on cost for the printing process.
All i all a cool design that I feel successfully redesigns the 'original board game' with careful consideration of the printing process.
Be seeing you!
