meta ethicists and normative ethicists

Meta Ethics is the study of the nature of morality through ethical language. Meta Ethicists analyse the foundation of ethical theories and concentrate on reason logic and language. Meta ethicists have been criticised for loosing touch with the real world.

It is important to discern the difference between Meta and Normative Ethicists. Normative Ethicists concern themselves with actions and consequences in defining whether something is good or not. Meta Ethicists are concerned with ethical language that defines 'goodness'.

Whatever the category of Ethicists, they still both ask themselves questions such as:

What does it mean to say something is right or wrong?

Does a moral statement simply express a person’s wishes or hopes about what should happen?

What do we mean when we say something is, “good”?

Be seeing you!
